Assistant Professor of Soil Science
Alcorn State University
The incumbent will coordinate NRCS projects, develop production practices to improve crop productivity, implement practices and techniques for the conservation and management of soil and water resources, and environmental conservation. Teaches courses in soil and plant sciences. He/she may also contribute outreach/extension related to small farmers and underserved communities.

Essential Job Functions
- Conducts a requisite number of classes; Teaches assigned subjects
- Provides guidance and supervision to students
- Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning and research
- Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/her subject(s)
- Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduled office hours
- Maintains equipment in the laboratory, plans for laboratory practical sessions, and provides materials to students
- Provides academic support to other faculty member
- Serves on departmental and University committees, as assigned
- Demonstrates grantsmanship and the ability to publish peer review journals
Qualifications
Doctor of Philosophy in Soil Science or closely related fields
