Assistant/Associate Professor (Food and Agribusiness Product Marketing)

NATURE OF POSITION: Tenure Track (12 Month). Research: 60 %, Teaching: 40 %
RESPONSIBILITY: This position will provide expertise and leadership in undergraduate and graduate teaching (40%) and applied research (60%) in the area of agribusiness economics and management with an emphasis in food and agribusiness product marketing. The successful candidate will have demonstrated expertise in Food and Agribusiness Product Marketing and is expected to have extensive knowledge of microeconomics and agribusiness in the areas of food and agribusiness product marketing with an ability to contribute to the undergraduate agribusiness program and the graduate program in agricultural economics. Evidence of being a high quality post-secondary teacher-scholar and demonstrated ability to operate as a team player in a collegial environment is required. Food and Agribusiness Product Marketing has become very dynamic in recent years; agribusiness and E-commerce models are evolving around an exponential growth in data that enhance our understanding of the behavior of multi-generational and multicultural consumers and contribute to improve the quality of information for decision making at all levels of the marketing system. The vision is that a successful candidate for this position will leverage departmental and university resources in areas such as econometrics, data science, and artificial intelligence/machine learning, to study food and agribusiness product marketing issues in a manner consistent with the mission of the Department and in a setting characterized by agricultural innovation, digitalization, and artificial intelligence. It is envisioned that this position will contribute to the development of the next generation of leaders in digital food and agribusiness product marketing analytics, E-commerce, and agribusiness entrepreneurship. Teaching responsibilities include 2-3 courses, undergraduate student advising, and advising and supervising graduate students. Scholarship and publication in peer-reviewed journals is required, and publishing is expected in other outlets such experiment station bulletins, departmental publications, and outlets appropriate for individual users and clientele groups. Cooperation should occur with personnel in the Louisiana Cooperative Extension Service, units of the Experiment Station, and agencies working on food and agribusiness product marketing issues. Participation in departmental and university committees and activities is expected. Travel will be required as needed to satisfy work related duties.
QUALIFICATIONS: Ph.D. in Agricultural Economics or closely related field with emphasis in domestic and international marketing, international trade, and agribusiness entrepreneurship. Some experience and strong interest in modeling expertise in data science, machine learning, and agribusiness analytics is expected. Effective oral communication, interpersonal skills, and ability to work effectively with peers and diverse stakeholders are required. The selected individual will have leadership and entrepreneurial skills and strong interest in developing an innovative program with a focus on small and/or large rural businesses related to the production, processing, and distribution of food and fiber products that provides for life-long learning and career enhancing opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students. Ability to seek extramural funds to help support the research program is expected.
SALARY AND BENEFITS: Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
