The Department of Crop, Soil and Environmental Sciences of the College of Agriculture at Auburn University is seeking applications for the Soil and Crop Science Lecturer position. This faculty position is a full-time, 9-month, non-tenure track instruction appointment renewable annually, contingent upon satisfactory performance. There are opportunities for summer salary support for this position. The projected start date is January 2023.
Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the laboratory portion of four introductory level courses: Soils and Life (CSES 1010, two lab sections in the fall semester), Basic Soil Science (CSES 2040, two lab sections in the spring and fall semesters), Crops and Life (CSES 1020, two lab sections in the spring semester), and Basic Crop Science (CSES 2000, one lab section in the spring and fall semesters). Additional responsibilities will include teaching Senior Seminar (CSES 4950) one semester a year and coordinating Internship (CSES 3920). This position also has responsibility for training and supervising graduate teaching assistants, day-to-day management of teaching laboratories, and undergraduate student recruitment. The selected candidate will have complete responsibility for teaching both lecture and lab sections of Basic Soil Science in the summer. Other responsibilities will develop depending on departmental needs and the individual's interests/expertise.
