  • Dr. Brendan Kelly runs the Cotton Phenomics Laboratory at the Fiber and Biopolymer Research Institute in Texas Tech’s Department of Plant and Soil Science. He holds a joint appointment with Texas A&M AgriLife Research. His research utilizes large cotton fiber phenomics data sets generated by modern cotton fiber quality evaluation instruments. One of his primary goals here at Tech is to work with the research community and industry partners to improve the utilization and understanding of cotton fiber quality in research. His approach includes leveraging information about fiber quality provided by existing instruments, along with the evaluation of new protocols and instruments. Dr. Kelly’s multivariate approach has led to a better understanding of the impact within-sample variation in fiber quality has on industrial processing and spun yarn quality.
