I had the distinct pleasure of advising 40 graduate over 30+ years, and our research focused, in part, on ecology and recovery of endangered Ozark big eared bats and interior least terns, effects of habitat alterations on nutrition of large mammals, the impact of the digital age on scientific delivery and scholarly publishing, and syntheses on the biology and conservation needs of Tibetan and Southeast Asian large mammals. I had considerable editorial involvement with several scientific journals beginning in the late 1980s, notably the Journal of Mammalogy, and during my early steps in retirement, I continue with my editorial duties for the 9-volume Handbook of the Mammals of the World, with Lynx Edicions, Barcelona, Spain.
