Research efforts are aimed at determining underlying genomic variations that are responsible for phenotypic differences in animals. Specifically, our laboratory is interested in determining genomic differences between animals resistant and susceptible to various toxicities, including nitrate toxicity, sulfate toxicity, and aflatoxicosis. The goal is to identify genetics markers that may be used to identify those animals more susceptible to these toxicities, thereby allowing producers to better manage their herd or flock. Additionally, our laboratory interacts with other faculty to study the effects of these toxicities on physiology and reproduction
