Work Location: School of Renewable Natural Resources, LSU Agricultural Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana
Position Description: A multi-investigator team based at LSU AgCenter is seeking a Research Associate to serve as a spatial analyst / data scientist for ongoing research designed to inform waterfowl and wetland conservation and management both in the state of Louisiana and across migratory flyways. Primary responsibilities will include providing analytical and visualization support for existing projects, primarily in the form of accessing and preparing remotely sensed datasets for analysis. Remote sensing skillsets will be used to support current projects that include 1) determining the breeding source origin of unmarked harvested waterfowl using stable isotope techniques and 2) evaluating changes in waterfowl habitat selection under temporally variable habitat availability. While primary duties will be computer based, providing some logistical field support may be required.
Qualification Requirements: Education: Bachelor's degree required focused on spatial ecology, wildlife conservation, ecological data science / statistics, or related fields. Experience: demonstrated competency in database management, data cleaning, and spatial analysis using RStudio. Ability to work well independently as well as within collaborative teams, create work plans, and meet deadlines. Previous experience working with Google Earth Engine or other large spatial data resources is preferred.
Salary and Benefits: Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
