Assistant Professor - Landscape Design

The Department of Horticultural Science at North Carolina State University seeks a visionary Assistant Professor in Landscape Design. This full-time, tenure-track position emphasizes innovative teaching, interdisciplinary collaboration, and impactful landscape design practices. The successful candidate will have a strong background in landscape design and horticulture, with expertise in plant knowledge, innovative and various design skills, and scholarly contributions to the field of expertise. This position will be 100% teaching and will report to the Department Head of Horticultural Science.
Essential Responsibilities:
- Deliver 2-3 courses per semester, using face-to-face and online platforms.
- Teach core and elective courses in landscape design and related horticultural/design topics aligned with departmental needs and individual interests.
- Advise undergraduate students and serve as chair, co-chair, or a committee member in training graduate students.
- Enhance program impact through public engagement, built works, and/or distance education coordination.
- Pursue external funding to support innovative programs consistent with scholarly expectations as a tenure-track faculty member.
- Contribute to professional societies, university programs, and departmental governance
